Frequently Asked Questions About Window Films and Window Tinting
General FAQ
Vista and LLumar window films solve the problems of fading and glare and damage to furniture. Most important, they help make occupants feel more comfortable in the room.
Generally speaking yes, and our window film manufacturers back up that claim by replacing windows where a seal may fail or window might crack.Dual pane windows fail on occasion after we install film, but the problem is extremely uncommon. Manufactured dual pane windows inherently have defects when they leave the plant. In seal failure situations, most often the window already failed. We have found with experience the higher quality the window unit, the less likely the problem. The most important thing to investigate is what type of film you are installing and make sure the warranty states an adequate warranty period and replacement cost (at least $500).
Prices on everything are going up, and glass replacement is no different. That’s why Vista window films have a Residential Gold Limited Warranty available for windows at a nominal fee. If you have windows that cost $1500 to replace and are concerned about that replacement cost, a Residential Gold Limited Warranty from Vista is the best answer to insure that a window is replaced with no out-of-pocket expense to you.
Professionally installed Vista and LLumar window films come with a lifetime warranty against cracking, peeling, adhesive failure or demetalizing for all residential applications. On the commercial side, Vista comes with a ten-year warranty against cracking, peeling, adhesive failure, or demetalizing. However Vista usually last much longer than that.
The sun will often damage window treatments, such as draperies, curtains, blinds or shades. Window film protects all furnishings, including window treatments.

Vista window film will not change the color of any of the furniture, fabric, artwork, or accessories. Instead the decor looks better because of reduced glare and fading.
Vista and LLumar window tinting is professionally installed on the inside of the window. There is little to no mess and there is no inconvenience to you during the installation process. You can feel at ease because there’s no danger to your precious furnishings.
No. The adhesive is applied at the factory. There is a liner on the film that is removed when we are ready to apply the film. We use baby shampoo and water to position the film and squeegee the water from under the film. Generally speaking there is very little if any smell detected.
Moleskin/Felt Tips
Every car door has weather strip seals on either side of the glass. The weather stripping keeps out water and dirt while keeping your window from rattling around in the door panel. On most cars the weather stripping has a soft felt molded into the rubber on both sides of the glass. But recently there have been a few cars that apply the felt only on the outside weather stripping and not the inside. After a window is tinted, if dust particles get sandwiched between the glass and rubber, they will leave a fine scratch running the length of the glass. To prevent the scratching we recommend adding Moleskin. The felt of the Moleskin absorbs the dust particles to help prevent the scratching. We can only warranty a window that we add the Moleskin to.Here is a list of some of the cars that we recommend adding Moleskin to: Acura TL / TSX – Ford Mustang – Honda Accord – Mercedes C Class / CLK Class – Mitsubishi Lancer – Nissan Titan – Saturn Ion / Vue – Toyota FJ Cruiser / Echo. Some of the 2008 cars in the list have added the felt from the factory. It’s easy to check your car to see if you may need Moleskin. Just roll the window all the way down and take a peek at the inside rubber.
Moleskin/Felt Tips
Mr. Tint takes every measure to ensure your FormulaOne window film is installed properly and professionally. Once it’s applied to your windows, it requires little maintenance on your part. However, there are a few steps you can take to maximize the performance of your automotive window tinting.
Approximately 2-3 weeks (summer) or 3-4 weeks (winter) are required for your window tinting to dry properly, depending on heat and humidity factors. Any haziness you may see is water under the film. This will gradually disappear as the days pass. The windows may also have a milky appearance in some places along with soapy streaks. However, the milkiness will disappear during the drying period. Please do not roll down the windows for 2 days following installation.
Though our installers are meticulous in applying the window film without visible bubbles, some small bubbles may remain until the windows are completely dry. A few small particles or points may also be visible from outside. These usually very tiny points are inherent in the adhesive system.
Although the window film has a scratch-resistant coating, brushes or cleaning agents containing abrasive material should be avoided. In some rare instances, window seals may cause fine scratching on rolled up windows.
Newer vehicles have a series of dots either along the outer edge of the back window or a very concentrated area at the top of the back window. These dots make the adhesion of film to glass very difficult, but we do have a technique that allows a better contact between both. Although water may still remain in the dot matrix area, the amount of water is reduced significantly as the film dries.

Tinted windows should be cleaned using common window cleaning solutions, such as Windex or Glass Plus, and a squeegee or soft cotton cloth. You can also make your own solution with a few drops of baby shampoo and distilled water.Although the film may have a scratch-resistant coating, brushes or cleaning agents containing abrasive material should be avoided. Fresh paint splatters can be wiped off with paint solvents and a soft cloth.
